A Message About the PDR Camp
Hi Everyone,
Once again, the BTS Summer Training Camp was a great success with our largest group ever, enjoying presentations by Coach Glassman, Brian MacKenzie, Kyle Maynard, Brendan Gilliam and of course Coach Blauer.
The weekend started off on a high note with a keynote address from Coach Glassman... always a treat with paradigm-busting light bulbs going off all over the room.
Saturday morning started off with a great WOD put together by Brendan Gilliam (CrossFit Obsession) and his staff, with a warm up from Freddy Camacho (CrossFit One World). It really was amazing to seeing well over 150 attendees of all fitness levels and backgrounds crossFitting at the same time.
The light bulbs continued during the rest of Saturday with Coach Blauer and staff 'peeling the onion' on S.P.E.A.R. Weapon Protection strategies and drills....
Saturday evening culminated with a great presentation from Brian MacKenzie (CrossFit Endurance). The feedback was excellent.
Sunday started out with a inspirational and motivational talk by Kyle Maynard (No Excuses Athletics) that had everyone spellbound and ready to train with the BTS team for the rest of the day.
Sunday closed on another high note with a dynamic HIGH GEAR demo incorporating some of the weapon protection strategies from the camp. You can view photos from the camp at www.pdrteam.com.
The camp was followed by a PDR Coach Certification for nearly 20 attendees. The group was made up of our typical mix of instructors with backgrounds in the traditional, eclectic, MMA, self defense and even some CrossFit affiliates. The candidates were highly motivated, coming off a great camp experience, and the result was an excellent new crop of Coaches geared up to spread the word on PDR, grow their companies and make their communities safer.

PDR Regional Seminar Program
You may have noticed that the bulk of the PDR Program’s courses are train the trainer courses for certified coaches. The PDR Regional Seminar Program is designed to help fill increasing demand for end user courses. For those or you that are looking to improve your personal safety, or might want to certify someday and would like some hands on experience first, the Regional Seminar Program is a great way to go.
By hosting a Regional Seminar Program (RSP) you will experience first hand the benefits the PDR Program and S.P.E.A.R. System have to offer you and (for program operators) your students.
Martial arts schools, gyms, and self-defense programs can host RSP’s. They are easy to set up and affordable. For information click here: RSP INFO or contact Tom Arcuri – tom@pdrteam.com
Tony Blauer & Rob Pincus To Present Combined Course
The founders of Blauer Tactical Systems and I.C.E. Training Company will team up November 2-3, 2009, in Virginia Beach, VA to offer a tactical workshop that blends essential & fundamental skills from both Combat Focus Shooting & the S.P.E.A.R. System’s Personal Defense Program. This dynamic 2-day course addresses armed and unarmed confrontations.
The S.P.E.A.R. SYSTEM (Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated Response) is a scientifically researched & medically reviewed personal defense measure that exploits the body’s natural responses to violence and danger. This survival mechanism, dubbed: Startle-Flinch Response has been scientifically integrated into a series of neuro-muscular drills that teaches individuals how to convert their instinctive reactions into protective and combative tactics.
The Combat Focus Shooting (CFS) Program is an intuitive shooting program that is designed to wrok efficiently with the body's natural reactions during a dynamic critical incident. This approach makes CFS Skills easy to learn and maintain for students of all backgrounds, military, law enforcement or self-defense.
Unlike many traditional programs, CFS does not take a purely mechanical approach to shooting training in isolation from the context in which the skill must be used. CFS is not simply "point shooting," it is a training methodology that leads to more efficient defensive shooting skill.
This two-day course will take place at the Blauer Training Facility and on a live-fire range.
The course is $450.00 and is open to military, security and law enforcement personnel as well as those interested in personal defense. (Background checks will be conducted.) Students should bring a firearm, holster, three magazines and 600 rounds of ammunition.
