PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM TONY BLAUER

PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM TONY BLAUER

Greetings.

It's been a busy time for Blauer Tactical Systems (BTS), having just hosted multiple courses at our headquarters, including the first-ever S.P.E.A.R. Operator Live Fire Exercise Course.

More than 60 students attended the courses, which also included: No-Room-To-Shoot/No-Time-To-Shoot; Personal Defense Readiness (PDR); PDR: Weapon Protection and CrossFit Kettlebell.

Write me at asktony@blauertactical.com and click here if you want to stay in the loop of training opportunities in your area.

Train hard and stay safe.

MIR USES HIGH GEAR FOR UFC 100

MIR USES HIGH GEAR FOR UFC 100

In preparation for Frank Mir's title fight against Brock Lesnar at UFC 100, Coach Blauer flew to Las Vegas to assist Mir with his training.  Mir, a serious martial artist and proponent the S.P.E.A.R. System and HIGH GEAR™, is interviewed by Raw Vegas.  Those of you who are fans of S.P.E.A.R. will recognize some of the drills.  Check out the video.

UNDERSTANDING THE 3 D'S

UNDERSTANDING THE 3 D'S

One of the most important concepts Coach Blauer developed for the S.P.E.A.R. System is the three D’s (Detect, Defuse, and Defend). Like many concepts in the system, on the surface it is simple to grasp. However as our coaching experience grows, we find deeper meaning and ways to make the message more powerful for our students.

S.P.E.A.R. TAUGHT AT BALTIMORE POLICE ACADEMY

S.P.E.A.R. TAUGHT AT BALTIMORE POLICE ACADEMY

Officer Eric Saladino, with the Baltimore County Police Dept. recently presented a two-day course, "S.P.E.A.R. System Applications for Close Quarters Combat," for department members at the Baltimore County Police Training Academy in Maryland.  The training featured dash cam videos with relevant footage for all attendees.  The 20 students attending ranged in rank from Officer to Captain. Several different units were represented, including: Patrol, Vice/Narcotics, Community Outreach/School Resource Officers, and Internal Affairs Division. The course also had an attendee from the U.S. Marshal Service. Coach Saladino was overwhelmed with so many last-minute requests that he’s decided to host a similar course in May.

HIGH GEAR FEATURED ON TV SHOW

HIGH GEAR FEATURED ON TV SHOW

BTS Coach Zeb Glover went to assist a TV-shoot for a U.K.-based program called “The Gadget Show.” The show’s theme focused on professional vs. amateurs in specific fields and allowed professionals to be challenged by amateurs in a couple of scenarios. Check out what happened with an Olympic medalist and HIGH GEAR!

CZECH FORCES LEARN S.P.E.A.R.

CZECH FORCES LEARN S.P.E.A.R.

Recently, S.P.E.A.R. Instructor Rob Pincus conducted some impromptu training for Czech Special Forces in Slovakia. Coach Pincus was running firearms training under his company, I.C.E. Training, when some of the students started asking questions about integrating unarmed techniques in a CQB Environment while geared up.

As it turns out, the students were Czech Special Forces personnel who had been previously trained in S.P.E.A.R. Fundamentals. Coach Pincus ran a short session covering how S.P.E.A.R. Fundamentals can be adapted to the CQB environment, after the second day of the course. Understanding the application of S.P.E.A.R. concepts into diverse contexts is an important part of training, according to Coach Pincus. Learning to apply those concepts and the fundamentals under any circumstance is vital to counter ambush preparation.

S.P.E.A.R. REACHES U.N. SECURITY & TRAINING TEAM

Coach Blauer was in New York City recently for several meetings with the NYPD, FBI and United Nations. The U.N. security and training division have been training with BTS for years and teach the S.P.E.A.R. System to their officers.  After his meeting with the training team, Coach Blauer visited a recruit class and gave them a short talk on training methodology and mind-set.

WISCONSIN DEFENSIVE & ARREST TACTICS COURSE

WISCONSIN DEFENSIVE & ARREST TACTICS COURSE

Coach Jeff Engelbrecht taught another S.P.E.A.R.-influenced and BTS Defensive and Arrest Tactics (D.A.A.T.) Instructor Course at NWTC in Green Bay.  D.A.A.T. is the standard defensive tactics course for Wisconsin.  Attendees were given a brief introduction to the S.P.E.A.R. System and conducted some of the drills, learned about HIGH GEAR™ and more.  Coach Engelbrecht is a DT trainer in Green Bay, WI and gives short S.P.E.A.R. workshops and seminars around the state.  To host a S.P.E.A.R. course, contact us.

Already, the NWTC has about 40 HIGH GEAR suits used as the primary protective gear for instructor candidates training.  Additionally, numerous PDs in Wisconsin have implemented the S.P.E.A.R. System into their policy.  Thereby recognizing S.P.E.A.R. as a vital component in many standard DT systems that fail to adequately address the ambush moment and the fight with the 3%er, where most officer injury and deaths occur.
